Beauty Log #1: My Everyday Skincare Routine

Hello there! I am restarting this blog to make it a little meaningful by sharing tips on beauty, fashion, travel and food. Basically all the things that I love! I am definitely not a professional in these fields but just wanna share my little know-hows to make this space slightly more interesting.

Starting this first post with my everyday skincare routine 😊

If you have a combination of dry and oily skin like me, below are some of the products that I would highly recommend! I've been using them for quite some time and am loving the effects so far. The main woes I have are my oily t-zone and red dry cheeks. After using these products, I find that my makeup is able to last throughout the entire day, it's less oily than before and probably only need one touch-up or a tissue to blot away some oil on the nose area.

"Have Your Own Skincare Routine"

It's always important to start with the basics. For all make-up to look nice, you need to ensure that you start off with a good canvas. From toners to serums, essence, eye cream, moisturizers - the confusing part here is which one do I use first? Well, depending on the brands that you use, the steps may differ. Generally, people start off with a toner but some brands have disrupted this norm by introducing serums or essence that come first before your toner.

Cleansing - Before you start to apply anything on your face, always cleanse your face first to ensure that it's clean from all the dirt and dust. I've recently started to cleanse my face with Foreo LUNA Mini 2 Face Brush and I really like it! It's very gentle on the skin and I do feel that it makes my face a lot cleaner than before. I will also do double cleansing at night (this is a very popular step in Korea!) to make sure that all my make-up is removed completely.

Here's my routine:

1. HERA Cell Essence (dupe for SK-II miracle water)

2. Jurlique Rose Water Balancing Mist/ Mamonde Rose Water Toner

3. HERA Aquabolic Hydro-Pearl Serum

4. Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Oxygenating Gel Cream

5. Clinique All About Eyes eye cream/ Dr. Wu Clinical Skincare Brightening Eye Serum with Vitamin C+

I repeat the 5 steps above everyday right after cleansing.
During the night, I will swap out my moisturizer with one that has a nighttime formula so it can invigorates and hydrates my skin while I sleep. I will also use a sheet mask or overnight sleeping mask as the last step of my routine.

As every individual has different skin type, what works well for one may not work well for others. You should always try out different products and formulate your own skincare routine. My suggestion is to get the travel sizes first (if have) as they usually only cost half of the original size and you won't feel that much of the pinch even if it doesn't work for you. At the end of the day, it's really about putting in the effort to take good care of your skin. There are products that give immediate results and there are also others that you will only realize the benefits in the long run. So, don't be lazy and start your own skincare routine now!
